Israel’s false flag operations
Sometimes when I get into a dialogue with people concerning the events of Oct.7, 2024, I express my doubts that Israel wasn’t in some way complicit in what occurred on that day. I point out how improbable it is that one of the most militarized and technologically sophisticated countries in the world could have allowed this to happen.
The reader may roll their eyes in anticipation of another conspiracy story. To this I respond, “Do you believe that a lone gunman was responsible for President Kennedy’s assassination?” The point I make is that due to all the unanswered questions surrounding the event, many people accept that there was more to the story than what meets the eye. In fact, a recent Gallup poll found that 63% of Americans believe that Kennedy’s assassination didn’t involve simply a lone gunman.
The Kennedy assassination is an example of when unanswered questions or illogical explanations don’t sit right with people. They are dissimilar to conspiracy theories based on non-sensical ideas, like those that state men didn’t really land on the moon or the Sandy Hook massacre was all staged.
In regard to a conversation about Oct. 7, the next thing I ask people is if they are aware of the history of Israel’s false flag operations, which they usually aren’t. My argument is that if you are aware of these events, it gives you a basis to believe that Israel could have been to some degree complicit in the incident.
False flag operations originated during naval combat in the 1500’s when warships gained advantage in battle by deceptively flying an enemy’s flag or the flag of a neutral country. Upon seeing this flag, the enemy ship wouldn’t be ready for an attack until it was too late.
Over time false flag operations have been used by numerous countries either to start wars or gain advantage in conflicts. In the case of Israel, some sources have claimed that the bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on July 22, 1946 was the first example of such an operation. The hotel was the headquarters for the British who controlled Palestine at the time. The attack was carried out by the Zionist underground organization Irgun, with the intention of destroying incriminating evidence against them that was being held in the British offices.
I originally told my listeners that the King David Hotel bombing was a false flag operation, but after further study I’ve concluded that it wasn’t. The Jewish perpetrators were dressed as Palestinians and placed the bombs inside milk jugs in the hotel kitchen. However, they probably dressed this way simply to gain access to the kitchen. Irgun admitted to the bombing without attempting to deceive the British by blaming the Palestinians.
Though the King David Hotel bombing was not a false flag operation, it was an early example of Jewish violence and terrorism. 91 people were killed in the bombing, including 28 Brits, 41 Arabs and 17 Jews.
The bombing has been called one of the most lethal terrorist attacks of the 20th century, but regardless, Israel hasn’t shied away from praising it. A plaque commemorating the bombing was unveiled at a conference attended by Benjamin Netanyahu and former members of Irgun in July 2006. The British government protested this, demanding its removal, which never occurred.
The first true false flag operation perpetrated by the state of Israel took place in 1954 when Egypt was rallying to take control of the Suez Canal from Britain. Israel thought this would embolden the military ambitions of Egypt’s President Nasser, and perhaps result in a threat to their own borders. The operation became known as the Lavon Affair.
The idea behind the Lavon Affair was to make the British think that there was a climate of violence and instability in Egypt, which could threaten the security of the Suez Canal. The Brits would then be less reluctant to hand the canal over to Egypt. The Israeli defense minister, Pinhas Levon, devised a plan whereby a group of Egyptian Jews were to plant bombs inside cinemas, libraries and US educational centres and blame it on the Muslim Brotherhood. In the end someone squealed and the plan was foiled without any casualties or damage to buildings.
Not surprisingly, Israel denied any involvement in the operation until 2005 when the surviving agents were awarded certificates of appreciation. Like the King David Hotel bombing, Israel showed no lack of hubris for their involvement in these terrorist activities.
The next Israeli false flag operation was the attack on a US naval ship USS Liberty in June, 1967 during the Six-Day War. Up until today Israel claims this incident was a mistake, and not a false flag operation, but there is enough evidence to refute this.
Israel’s attack on the Liberty was a strange and sordid affair. It was a US navy technical research ship parked in international waters when out of nowhere it was attacked by planes and torpedo boats. It survived the attack, but 34 crew members were killed and 171 injured.
False flag operations are more discernible if we can see a clear motive in the act of deception. In the Libertyattack, crew members reported that the planes did not have markings. As for the motive there are many theories, the strongest being that Israel wanted the attack to look like it was coming from Egypt in order to draw the US into the conflict. It seems that this just about worked, since upon hearing of the attack, President Johnson ordered an air attack on Egypt, which was recalled at the last minute when it was discovered that Israel was behind the assault.
Why the operation failed is not clear. One plausible theory suggests Israel wanted no survivors – they even shot at the escaping men in life rafts. Dead men tell no tales. When Israel recognized their failure to achieve this, they realized the gig was up and tried to convince the US that it was all a mistake. Like the Lavon Affair, it marked another failure for Israel in the false flag department.
Another attack on US troops occurred in 1983 when 241 Marines stationed in Lebanon were killed when a truck loaded with explosives detonated outside their barracks. However, at this point in time there is insufficient evidence to link Israel with the attack. If it was a false flag operation, its purpose would have been to force the US out of Lebanon during the Israeli war with that country. President Reagan sent the marines there supposedly to act as peace keepers, which could have been seen as interference by Israel. At the time an obscure group called the “Islamic Jihad” claimed responsibility for the attack, and it was thought that perhaps Syria or Iran was behind it. However, in the absence of information, the US didn’t initiate any retaliatory attack against either country.
If Israel was behind Marine barracks bombing, it could have achieved another aim, namely increasing the West’s animosity toward Muslims and Muslim majority countries that Israel sees as threats. Whether intentional or not, this has been a successful outcome leading up to and following 9/11 and the “war on terror”. The world-wide rise in Islamophobia has only benefitted Israel in its relations with the Palestinians and its Muslim enemies. After 9/11 occurred they were easily able to label Palestinian groups as terrorists and tried to convince the world that they had been dealing with these types of people for years.
There is no space here to discuss the possibility that 9/11 itself was an Israeli false flag operation. Suffice to say that there have been many articles, books and videos that have made this claim. Regardless of the contradictions and inconsistencies that challenge the official investigation, the truth will probably never be known, especially since the mainstream media takes no interest in exploring alternate theories.
Israel has benefitted in many ways as a result of 9/11, which suggests a possible motive for their involvement. Immediately after the attack, Benjamin Netanyahu was asked for his response and stated, “it is a very good thing” because it would strengthen US support for Israel. Not long after this, Israel’s Prime Minister Ariel Sharon escalated the conflict with the Palestinians on the pretext of fighting terrorism.[1] In subsequent years, the attacks resulted in Israel using public sentiment against Muslims to their advantage by wreaking further havoc on Muslims in the West Bank and Gaza. This has enabled them to further snub international laws and peace agreements in order to squeeze Palestinians out of their land and more brutally control those who remain.
In President Jimmy Carter’s 2006 book, Palestine: Peace not Apartheid, he stated:
“The overriding problem is that, for more than a quarter century, the actions of some Israeli leaders have been in direct conflict with the official policies of the United States, the international community, and their own negotiated agreements… Israel’s continued control and colonization of Palestinian land have been the primary obstacles to a comprehensive peace agreement in the Holy Land. In order to perpetuate the occupation, Israeli forces have deprived their unwilling subjects of basic human rights. No objective person could personally observe existing conditions in the West Bank and dispute these statements.[2]”
The 9/11 attacks were not only advantageous for Israel in terms of their oppression of the Palestinians, but they led to the complete onboarding of the US against Israel’s foes in the Middle East: Hezbollah, Iran, Iraq and Syria. The Israel lobby worked overtime to convince the US government that Israel’s enemies were their enemies as well.
In their landmark book, The Israel Lobby and Foreign Policy, professors Mearsheimer and Walt point out, “Not only did the United States gradually adapt Israel’s policy preferences toward the Palestinians, Iran and the rest of the region, it also adopted many of Israel’s justifications for these policies. American and Israeli leaders began to sound as if they were speaking from the same page.”[3] No doubt the funding from AIPAC[4] helped grease the wheels.
Of course, the “war on terror” and the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq were the fallouts from this concerted action, which the authors point out benefitted Israel much more than the US.
At this point I rest my case. It is clear from a history of deception and manipulation in known and suspected false flag operations that it is not beyond Israel to be to some degree complicit in the events of Oct. 7. In addition, like the President George Bush Jr. who lied about “weapons of mass destruction” as a ruse for invading Iraq, Israeli leaders have been guilty of lies and coverups throughout their history.
Immediately after Oct. 7, Israel began generating lies about rapes of women and beheadings of children to ramp up the hatred of Hamas and Palestinians. In addition, last week the Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that Israeli forces killed some of their own people in order to stop them being taken as hostages under their military protocol called the Hannibal Directive[5]. It is not known how many of the 1,139 Israelis were actually killed by their own country on that day, but Hamas has been blamed right from the start for all of it.
Is this a country we can really trust when they tell us something?
